The Bottom Drawer with Te-Ping Chen

Join the Bagri Foundation for the first in our second series of The Bottom Drawer. Featuring interviews with guest writers to discuss their early efforts and inspiration, this year’s version includes books that changed their life, and focusses on UK Debuts. On 27 May, our Head of Arts, Chelsea Pettitt speaks with writer and journalist Te-Ping Chen about her debut, the short story collection Land of Big Numbers – shared via Instagram, YouTube and Facebook from 2pm BST.


TE-PING CHEN’s fiction has been published in, or is forthcoming from, The New Yorker, Granta, Guernica, Tin House, and The Atlantic. A reporter with the Wall Street Journal, she was previously a correspondent for the paper in Beijing and Hong Kong. Prior to joining the Journal in 2012, she spent a year in China as a Fulbright fellow. She lives in Philadelphia.
