An evening with Parvathy Baul
The Bauls are wandering bards with close ties to Tantra, mainly based around Bengal and Bangladesh.
Famous for their mystical songs, which they perform with stringed instruments, their beliefs fuse Tantric, Bhakti and Sufi ideas, centring on the notion that divinity is present and accessible within the human body, which is itself a microcosm of the universe.
At this very special performance acclaimed practitioner, teacher and musician Parvathy Baul shares the unique devotional songs, dances and storytelling of the tradition at a concert that aims to generate an experience of universal love and spiritual freedom.
This performance is presented in partnership with British Museum’s Tantra: enlightenment to revolution exhibition, supported by the Bagri Foundation.
