Bagri Foundation has been supporting the Asia House Literature Festival since 2014 and are deeply proud to champion a vital space dedicated to vibrant, diverse writing, stories and ideas from and about Asia and the diaspora.
The 13th edition will take place from 3 September to 13 November 2019, with bestselling authors, comedians and popular poets speaking as part of an eclectic programme. The festival opens with bestselling author, historian and broadcaster Dan Jones who will be discussing his new book Crusaders, which explores the medieval world’s sequence of religious wars through the lives of those who shaped them. Other highlights include international bestselling author Jung Chang, who presents a major new biography, Big Sister, Little Sister, Red Sister, a gripping story of sisterhood, revolution and betrayal, and three women who helped shape the course of modern Chinese history on 19 Oct 2019. Pulitzer finalist Azadeh Moaveni’s launches her new book, Guest House for Young Widows: Among the Women of ISIS, a gripping account of thirteen women as they joined, endured, and, in some cases, escaped life in the Islamic State. Former investigative journalist Shiv Malik discusses one of the most fascinating, yet unlikely, friendships between a repentant jihadist and an idealistic journalist and UK’s most followed poet Nikita Gill’s new book Great Goddesses – a collection of poetry inspired by Greek mythology.
